Macy Character Design

Character design project for an illustration course at Purdue Poly (2017). I've always wanted to create some character designs of my pug, Macy. She's already quite the character, but I just wanted to translate that to 2D. The assignment required 3 turnaround poses. I did some initial sketch studies of her, trying to see how her proportions should look and explored how flexible her facial expressions would be. I also researched some of the work development done for the Disney animated short, "Feast," which inspired me to want to animate my designs of Macy in the future. The initial outlining and colors were done in procreate with the standard brushes. Don't be surprised to see Macy pop up in future projects :)
